AXIS Pharmacy Northwest proudly announces Heba Namatalla as its July 2020 “Employee of the Month.” Heba is a staff pharmacist who has been with the company since 2007 (when we operated under the name of Shiraz Pharmacy).
Dave Doane, Axis Pharmacy CEO said that there were a number of factors that contributed to Heba being honored with this designation:
“Heba has been here virtually since the beginning. She comes to work, does her job, and earns the trust of our customers with her commitment to their health. I have so much respect and admiration for Heba. She has an incredible knack for coming up with ideas, and resolutions to issues that improve patient care while benefiting our business as well. She is a unique AXIS Pharmacist because she can work in all of our service areas proficiently. She also is the face of AXIS to so many of our customers, because she goes to the facilities to visit with patients. Thanks, Heba!”
Heba was kind enough to humor us when we asked to share some of her thoughts, experiences and personal thoughts about herself and her job as a pharmacist.
In one or two sentences, provide a brief description of “A Day in the Life” at your job.
As a staff pharmacist, my job is to work with health care providers to deliver quality care to our long-term care residents, retail clients which also includes vet and compounding medications. My main duties are checking prescriptions, medications for accuracy, and consulting with providers and clients to provide all needed medications as prescribed.
What has been one of the most rewarding moments/experiences in your job?
As a pharmacist, I value being able to help caregivers at long term care facilities we serve with all their medication concerns, as they have a challenging job on a daily basis.
What has been one of the most challenging moments/experiences in your job?
Assisting caregivers who administer medications to their clients, but do not have the same level of training as a pharmacist. We are always diligent to double-check the accuracy of orders to minimize errors and corrective actions needed so that there is minimum impact on the patients’ therapy.
What is your favorite part about working at Axis?
Working with a great team and supportive management.
What advice would you give to someone looking to get into your line of work?
Attention to detail is a must. A patient’s best interest should be the goal of any healthcare provider for the best outcome and success.
Tell us something that people are surprised to find out about you.
I am more adventurous than they might think.
What is one of your most prized possessions?
My family.
Tell us something that you like to do in your time off/spare time?
Family time, swim, and travel.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I think I could be a peacemaker.
Complete this sentence: “I am happiest when…”
on the beach on a sunny day with good company.
If you won the lottery, what’s the first thing that you would buy?
I will make sure to donate and help family first, then maybe buy a beachfront place if possible.
Tell us one thing that we didn’t ask about that you’d like to share about yourself.
Always work with the patient’s best interest as your number one goal and all will fall into place to assure success and being rewarded.
That’s a wonderful piece of advice to share, Heba. Thank you SO much for all you do to help make AXIS Pharmacy Northwest the preferred local compounding pharmacy.
