AXIS Pharmacy Northwest will take over the operations of The Compounding Apothecary on March 27, 2017. The Compounding Apothecary, located at 300 Admiral Way, #107 in Edmonds, Washington, will be closing its doors on March 23rd.
Pharmaceutical compounding, which is the art and science of preparing prescribed medications into the exact strength and dosage form that the patient requires, was the mainstay of The Compounding Apothecary, which had been in business since 1998 at the Edmonds waterfront location. However, Edmonds won’t be losing head pharmacist and founder Susan Matsuo, PharmD. Matsuo will be making the move to AXIS Pharmacy Northwest, taking with her many years of experience as a pharmacist. With both a background in western medicine earned at the University of Washington, along with traditional Chinese herbal medicine gained from Bastyr University, Matsuo is a respected champion of compounded medications.
Much like The Compounding Apothecary, AXIS Pharmacy Northwest is a dedicated pharmacy that is devoted to compounded medicine. They recently moved to Mountlake Terrace to expand their non-sterile compounding capacity as well as build a brand new, state-of-the-art sterile compounding facility.

They offer the same products and services to which The Compounding Apothecary customers have grown accustomed. Matsuo’s blend of western and eastern medicinal knowledge will be joining the already exceptional staff at AXIS Pharmacy Northwest.
Customers will also be able to take advantage of the expanded line of over-the-counter items available in store, as well many other AXIS benefits such as medication disposal, and an even greater range of pharmaceutical care. All records and prescriptions will be transferred and the telephone and FAX number will remain unchanged.
AXIS Pharmacy Northwest is located at 6007 244th St SW, Suite A2 in Mountlake Terrace in their brand-new 9000 square foot facility less than 12 minutes from The Compounding Apothecary’s current location. The new pharmacy is designed as a wellness center with expanded compounding capabilities and patient consultation rooms. Customers will have access to a broad range of health and wellness products, consultation services, and 1300 square foot Wellness Boutique.
