The AXIS Pharmacy Northwest has selected Laura Gifford, Pharmacist for its Employee Spotlight!

“Laura Gifford has been with AXIS Pharmacy NW for over five years now, coming to us after we acquired the Swedish Pavilion LTC operations. Since then, Laura has facilitated the transition of that team into the AXIS Pharmacy operations staff and remains the anchor for that part of the operation.
With over 25 years of pharmacist experience, Laura is a strong advocate for patient safety and works diligently to ensure our clients receive the highest caliber of care and service. With so much experience, her troubleshooting abilities are substantial and effective. She provides calm, always in control leadership to the team. She is an integral member of the LTC team, providing feedback and suggestions for operational improvement and quality.

We took a few moments to learn a bit more about Laura and how she contributes to the success of AXIS Pharmacy Northwest.
Provide a brief description of “A Day In the Life” at your job.
My job is usually fairly busy, with many interactions with fellow employees and telephone conversations with customers, caregivers, and doctors’ offices. I’m responsible for patient safety with their medications from the arrival of the prescription at the pharmacy, processing the Rx, checking for an appropriate indication, dosage, directions, and drug interactions, then making sure we accurately fill the Rx and get it to our drivers for delivery.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
I enjoy being a pharmacist at AXIS Pharmacy Northwest and feel challenged by the workload but satisfied by a successful day.
What is your favorite part about working at AXIS Pharmacy Northwest?
I work very hard to be accurate, safe, and mindful. I try to listen to what is happening in the pharmacy and help problem solve and deliver excellent pharmacy service. I’m grateful for such a fun place to work!
Tell us about activities you like to do outside of work.
I love walking/jogging with my dogs, hiking with my husband Brandon & son Max, and spending time outdoors.
What is your favorite local park/hiking trail?
I love hiking Lake Serene, Lake 22, and Lake Ozette.
